Genre and Convention.

A teen film is a specific genre of film that mainly appeals to teenagers and young adults in which the plot is usually based on the interests of teenagers. They are usually watched by teenagers or people of a similar age to the characters in the film, because they feel they can relate; they can also be watched by people of an older age, who often tend to watch them due to a sense of nostalgia and reminiscence. Coming of age, first love, rebellion,conflict with parents, teen angst or alienation are very common themes presented in these sort of movies and are usually shown in a glossy, stereotyped or trivialised way.

The home - bedroom, kitchen, bathroom
School/college - car park, lockers (hallway), classroom,
Sports locations - changing rooms, courts, fields
'Hang out' locations - blocks, diner, party, cinema
