Typical teen film stereotypes

What does stereotype mean?
A stereotype is a widely held but fixed and oversimplified image or idea of a particular person or thing. e.g. women aren't as strong as men. 

There are many stereotypes seen in films often used to create drama and conflict here are a few examples seen in typical teenage movies; 

                                                       THE JOCK 


The Jock is seen in many teen films such as
-Jake Wyler from 'Not Another Teen Movie' 
-John Tucker from 'John Tucker Must Die'
-Andrew Clark from 'The Breakfast Club
They tend to 
-be athletic
-abuse their popularity
-nice cars
-popularity amongst both girls and boys
-scare the weaker, unpopular nerds
-usually always wear their team jersey/bomber jacket. 

                                            THE MEAN POPULAR GIRLS


Seen in films such as
-Regina George from 'Mean Girls'
-Mandi Weatherly from 'Mean Girls 2'
-Shelby from 'A Cinderella Story'
-Sharpay Evans from 'High School Musical'
They tend to
-Be popular and do not like competition
-Attractive
-Wear the best clothes e.g. in trend, cute, expensive
-Be mean
-Rich
-Have their 'sidekicks' or 'friends'

                                                      THE NERD OR LOSERS


They are seen in films such as
-Eunice from 'She's The Man'
-Fogell from 'Superbad'
-'Losers' from 'Not Another Teen Movie'
-Abby from 'Mean Girls 2'
They tend to
-Be outcasts
-Unpopular
-Ugly
-Smart/Clever with work
-No friends/social life
-Wear glasses

                                             THE UGLY PRETTY GIRL
Seen in films such as
-Mitchie in 'Camp Rock'
-Mia in 'Princess Diaries'
-Sam in 'A Cinderella Story'
They tend to
-Be an outcast
-No boyfriend
-Not attractive
-Unpopular
But they turn out to be
-Popular or well liked
-Attractive/Pretty
-Have a boyfriend
-Treated well
